WHEREAS, a vacancy now exists in the membership of the Texas State Senate in District No.4, which consists of Chambers County and Jefferson County, and parts of Galveston County, Harris County, and Montgomery County, and

WHEREAS, the results of the special election held on Saturday, May 10,2014, have been officially declared and no candidate in the special election received a majority of the votes cast, as required by Section 203.003 of the Texas Election Code; and […]

WHEREAS, Section 3.003(a)(3) of the Texas Election Code requires the special runoff election to be ordered by proclamation of the governor; NOW, THEREFORE, I, RICK PERRY, Governor of Texas, under the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Statutes of the State of Texas, do hereby order a special runoff election to be held in Senate District No.4 on August 5, 2014, for the purpose of electing a state senator to serve out the unexpired term of The Honorable Tommy Williams.”
