The judge at the head of the state’s sweeping school finance trial will not be stepping away from the case, in spite of a motion filed by state attorneys alleging bias and asking him to recuse himself.

In Tuesday’s Capital Tonight, we heard why lawyers for the state are asking District Judge John Dietz to step down, and how one attorney for the plaintiffs’ side is responding.


It’s still unknown whether San Antonio Mayor Juli├ín Castro will head to Washington. In the meantime, the race to replace him as city leader is already on. We spoke to Rep. Mike Villarreal about why he wants the job and how he views San Antonio politics from a state and local level.
