NEDERLAND – From State Rep. Allan Ritter
“It has been one of the great honors of my life and career to have served in the Texas State House of Representatives from District 21. In 1998 voters took a chance on me and together we have witnessed some history and worked to help shape a positive and productive future for Texas. My constituents have always been generous with their support and in true southeast Texas fashion, unapologetic in their critiques of my legislative actions. I needed both and will always cherish both.
I have been blessed in my life to have grown up in a family business that taught me to recognize opportunity and to trust my instincts. Well, I certainly recognize that southeast Texans entrusted a tremendous opportunity with me to represent them in Austin. And now, my instincts tell me its time to allow this honored opportunity to pass to a new person chosen by the voters in District 21. I will serve out my current term which ends December 31, 2014, but I will not seek reelection.
By making this announcement now, it is my hope that this will allow sufficient time for qualified and passionate candidates to begin presenting their ideas and visions to the people of southeast Texas and provide the voters in District 21 the opportunity to make their most informed decision.”
